Roadworks 2011
Today I headed over to San Francisco to participate in Roadworks 2011, presented by the San Francisco Center for the Book. Five other artists and I were invited to carve 3 foot square blocks of linoleum which were then printed on Rhode Island Street in San Francisco with the aid of an Ingersoll Rand steamroller. Way cool.

The block is inked and positioned on a piece of plywood backing

Paper is put over the inked block…

… and smoothed out

Blankets are put over the paper to absorb and redistribute the force of the steamroller

The coolest part of all!

Can you see the deep impression on the paper?

Ta da! The lovely print assistants show off…
